Description
ASU Mid-South provides testing services for those planning to become Mid-South students and for students of other colleges who need an official testing center.
To Register for a CLEP Exam:
- Choose an exam from the CLEP exam topics page. Click on Register once you've decided on an exam.
- Sign in to the My CLEP student portal. If you don't have one, you'll be asked to create an account.
- Make sure everything is correct for your personal information. Then make your exam selection.
- Checkout with the CLEP website, paying the CLEP exam fee. (Currently $95)
Details and additional help information can be found on CLEP's "How to Register" page.
When you've signed up through CLEP, you can schedule your exam here using the Register button. There will be a $25 Proctor charge.
Test-takers should arrive 15 minutes before the testing time and will need to show a photo ID and bring your CLEP test ticket.
Testing times are offered Monday – Thursday.

Questions & Answers
- What is CLEP?
CLEP offers 34 exams that cover introductory level college course material. With a passing score on one CLEP exam, you could earn three or more college credits at over 3,000 U.S. colleges and universities.
ASU Mid-South accepts CLEP scores for course credit according to the catalog policies. Scores that are high enough allow the student to test out of the course.
- How can I prepare for a CLEP exam?
The CLEP website has a page called "Prepare for an Exam" with many official resources.
Other publishers have created study materials for purchase which can be found with a general search.
- How much does a CLEP exam cost?
CLEP currently charges $95 per test to take the test.
ASU Mid-South charges $25 to proctor the test.
The idea is that this saves usually 3 credits of tuition and fees at a college if you score well enough on the exam to test out. At ASU Mid-South, 3 credits at our local rate is currently $408. (ASU Mid-South Tuition and Fees)
- Are testing accommodations available if needed?
If accommodations are needed, please make a note about those accommodations in the “Additional Information” box.
If documentation isn't already on file at ASU Mid-South, someone from Mid-South will reach out to ask about the medical documentation.
- Can I cancel or reschedule my exam?
Yes! The confirmation email will provide a link to cancel or reschedule!
- Where should I go to take my exam?
All exams are given at Arkansas State University Mid-South. The confirmation email will provide you with building and room location! Campus Map
- What should I bring when I take the exam?
- A photo ID.
- Pencil.
- Your CLEP Test Ticket.
- Your phone will be collected while you test. All other items should be left in the car or at home.
